SAN DIEGO.- Cindy Marten, actual directora de Central Elementary School (Escuela Primaria Central) fue nombrada como Superintendente del Distrito Escolar Unificado de San Diego, en sustitución de Bill Kowba, que se retira de esa posición.
Kowba dejará el cargo el próximo 1 de julio.
“La respuesta de la comunidad al nombramiento de Cindy ha sido extraordinariamente positiva. Ella está entusiasmada por empezar su Superintendencia en
julio”, dijo Kowba.
Indicó que ya se reunió con Marten“para abordar un plan de transición con la meta de que ella esté bien orientada dentro de toda la gama de asuntos académicos, operativos, administrativos y de liderazgo”.
“Acordamos que ella pasaría el mes de marzo concluyendo sus compromisos en la Escuela Primaria Central y se preparará para mudarse a la Oficina Central a partir del 1º de abril”, adelantó, “en el Centro de Educación, Cindy se sumergirá en los programas, procesos y rutinas que supervisará como Superintendente”.
Por su parte, el presidente de SDUSD, John Evans dijo que “queremos un líder que trabaje incansablemente enfocada en las necesidades de los niños.
Cindy Marten, por su lado, se refirió a su nombramiento“un increíble honor”, y dijo que “yo creo en la esperanza y la promesa de la educación pública para América, y estoy convencida que trabajar a favor de la educación muestra el país que somos”.
Marten ha sido maestro por más de 25 años, directora de Central Elementary por seis, y comenzó su labor en el sector educativo en distrito escolar de Poway.

SAN DIEGO.- Cindy Marten, current principal of Central Elementary School was named Superintendent of the San Diego Unified School District, in substitution of Bill Kowba, whom is retiring from that position.
Kowba will leave his position next July 1st.
«The community response to Cindy Marten’s appointment has been extremely positive. She is excited to begin hers Superintendence this July”, mentioned Kowba.
He also pointed out that he already had a meeting with Marten, «To address a transition plan with the goal that it is properly oriented within the whole range of academic affairs, operational, administrative and leadership.»
Regarding this transition he added, «We agreed that she would spend the month of March ending her commitments in Central Elementary School and be prepared to move to the Central Office as of April 1st in the Education Center.
Cindy will dive into the programs, monitor processes and routines as Superintendent starting next month.
On the other hand, UCSD President, John Evans said, «We want a leader who works tirelessly focused on the needs of children.”
Meanwhile, Cindy Marten described her appointment «A great honor» and said «I believe in hope and the promise of public education for America, and I am convinced that working in favor of education shows the country we are.”
Marten has been a teacher for 25 years, director of Central Elementary for six, and began her work in the education sector in Poway School District.
